New TSI Fellow, Rod Nichols
I’m pleased to announce Rod Nichols as a Senior Fellow in The Sierra Institute. Rod was nominated by Senior Fellow, Brenda Harmon. Please join me in welcoming Rod.
Rod Nichols is senior vice president, Human Resources and Administrative Services of Marathon Petroleum Corporation. He is on the board of trustees of the Blanchard Valley Health System, where he serves on the Human Resources and Governance/Nominating Committees. He is also a member of Michigan State University’s School of Human Resources & Labor Relations Advisory Board.
Rod began his career with Marathon in 1977 as an employee relations representative in the Corporate Industrial Relations organization. After an assignment in the Northeastern Production District, Rod served in a number of employee relations management positions in Alaska and Wyoming, as well as at the Garyville and Texas City refineries. He was named manager, Human Resources Refining, Marketing and Transportation in 1985, vice president, Human Resources and Administrative Services of Marathon Ashland Petroleum in 1998 and senior vice president, Human Resources and Administrative Services in 2012.
Rod holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising and a master’s degree in labor and industrial relations, both from Michigan State University. He attended the Advanced Human Resource Executive Program at the University of Michigan School of Business in 2002.
